Abu Dhabi culture day guide

Abu Dhabi culture day from Dubai: tour it, or ticket it yourself

A culture day in Abu Dhabi usually means three names: Qasr Al Watan, the Louvre and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, with Qasr Al Hosn as the quieter fourth. Our own full-day tour drives past the palace and takes you inside the mosque and BAPS Mandir, but if going inside the palace, the museum or the old fort matters to you, you book those tickets yourself. This guide lays out both routes, what each official site charges or asks for instead, and one order to see everything in a single day.

What our day tour actually shows you

Our full-day Abu Dhabi tour collects you from a Dubai hotel or residence and spends the day moving: the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a stop at the Iranian dates and vegetable market, photo stops at Ferrari World, the Corniche and Emirates Palace, Heritage Village, and a visit to BAPS Mandir, before the drive back. Lunch at Marina Mall is on your own tab, and the whole loop runs about 9 hours; book it at least a day ahead.

What it does not do is take you inside Qasr Al Watan: the listing calls that stop a drive-through, past the palace rather than through its gates. If the point of your day is standing inside the palace, the Louvre or Qasr Al Hosn, that calls for a separate ticket, which this page sells below.

Booking the inside yourself

Qasr Al Watan, the Louvre and Qasr Al Hosn each sell as their own ticket, and all three meet you on location rather than picking you up. Pair the palace with the Louvre on one combo ticket instead, and the visit runs about 4 hours and 30 minutes end to end.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque sits outside all of this: it has no ticket to buy, ours or anyone else's. Visitors reserve a free pass on the mosque's own site ahead of the day, separate from whatever else you book.

Ordering the day

Reserve the mosque's online pass first, ideally a morning slot, since worshippers can walk in any time but visitors need the booking. Book Qasr Al Watan's ticket before 2 hours remain until closing time — the hours shift day to day, so check the palace's own calendar instead of this page. Qasr Al Hosn keeps steadier hours: open daily, just later on Fridays.

Save the Louvre for last if you can: Friday through Sunday its galleries run to 8:30pm and the dome stays lit until midnight, the latest closing of anywhere on this page — Visit Abu Dhabi calls it "the first universal museum in the Arab World." Our tickets for the Louvre and Qasr Al Hosn can be booked right up to the day; the palace ticket and the combo need that 2-hour buffer first.

What the mosque asks of visitors

Dress modestly: women in loose clothing down to the ankle, sleeves to the wrist and hair covered; men with their legs covered, avoiding sleeveless or tight tops. The rules also bar excessive jewellery, bold makeup and clothing carrying slogans or images.

Phones go on silent and food stays outside; personal photos are fine at the marked spots, but a tripod or professional camera needs the Centre's permit first. Cars cannot stay parked overnight between 11pm and 4am.

Two days that change the plan

Friday is the mosque's odd day out: visitors are shut out from 11:30am to 2:30pm while prayers run, open before and after. Qasr Al Watan's own calendar decides its hours day by day, so a Friday there is not necessarily different from any other.

Monday takes BAPS Mandir off the table: it is shut that day, and it is one of the stops on our day tour. Official sources disagree on whether the Louvre opens on Mondays, so check with the museum first. Qasr Al Hosn runs every day of the week, Friday included, just starting later that day.

Questions about the culture day

Do I need to book the Grand Mosque ahead of time?

Yes, if you're visiting rather than praying — book the free online pass before you go. Worshippers walk straight in.

Does our day tour take you inside Qasr Al Watan?

No — the tour's own listing calls that stop a drive-through. For the inside, book the standalone Qasr Al Watan ticket.

How much does Qasr Al Watan charge adults?

Visit Abu Dhabi prices it at AED 65 for an adult and AED 30 for a child. Our own Qasr Al Watan price is shown further up this page.

Does Qasr Al Hosn publish a ticket price online?

No — its own FAQ and homepage give opening hours and a 'Book Now' link but no AED figure.

Can one ticket cover both Qasr Al Watan and the Louvre?

Yes, our combo ticket does — about 4 hours and 30 minutes for both, on one booking.

What happens to the plan on a Monday?

BAPS Mandir, one of our day tour's stops, closes, and Qasr Al Hosn keeps its usual hours. Check the Louvre's Monday hours with the museum before you go.

What should I wear to the Grand Mosque?

Loose clothing to the ankle with covered hair for women; legs covered and no sleeveless tops for men.
