About this experience
Travel to the medieval past of Bruges
The urban structure of Bruges embodies the most prosperous era of Flanders, taking us back a few centuries but with the cell phone in hand to fill it with memories.
We will walk through the city, following a varied itinerary, ranging from romantic legends and brewing traditions to the oldest buildings that intertwine Bruges' past and present.
Moreover, the medieval beauty of its guild houses, palaces, and churches is reflected in its canals surrounded by swans... You will feel like you are inside a fairy tale!
Tailor-made
Whether you live the experience alone, as a couple, with family or friends, the tour is fully adaptable to the preferences and interests of the group.
The guide will take you step by step through the history, culture, and idiosyncrasies of Bruges in your own language, through a fun and light-hearted storytelling style. In addition, being a private tour, the attention is even closer and the guide will be able to advise you to make the most of your stay in the city.

Itinerary
- 1
The Lake of Love
Entering Bruges from Minnewater Park you will be greeted by a beautiful fairytale panorama with its stone buildings, swans everywhere you look, and love as a central theme, through the legends of the Lake of Love and the Bridge of Lovers.
- 2
Beginhof (Convent of the Beguines)
This series of houses from 1245 was the home of the Beguines, emancipated women with a pious life. Today, they continue their purpose, welcoming the sisters of the Order of St. Benedict.
- 3
Halve Maan Brewery
Centuries of brewing tradition in the Mae family have resulted in brands such as Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik, as well as a great place to eat, a modern tavern and a museum that tells its entire history.
- 4
Stoofstraat Street
The "Red-Light District" of Bruges. It is a narrow alley with big secrets: it housed bathhouses for the lords of the elite of the fourteenth century, but it offered more than toilet services... Despite its bad reputation, it remained open for more than two centuries.
- 5
Saint John Hospital
One of the first hospitals in Europe. It served sick pilgrims from the twelfth century until 1977, then became a cultural center that displays the medical instruments of the monks, the cloister of medicinal plants and works of modern art.
- 6
Church of Our Lady
Although it dominates the view of the city, thanks to the second-tallest brick tower in the world, the treasures inside make it a must-see: the heart of Philip the Handsome, and the "Madonna" by Michelangelo.
- 7
Dijver Water Canal
The Dijver is the main canal of "the Venice of the North". Being the connection to the North Sea, during the Middle Ages it was a key point for merchant ships, and today, it is a key point for tourists who enjoy the beautiful views of the city.
- 8
Palace Gruuthuse
It belonged to the Gruuthuse, a family that held the monopoly of "gruit" since the 13th century (an ingredient in the transformation of barley). Today it is a museum that shows us how opulent life was during the period of maximum commercial development in Flanders.
- 9
Burg Square (City Hall & Basilica of the Holy Blood)
It is one of the most historically rich parts of the city. It received its first inhabitants in the second and third centuries and has a town hall of the historic Netherlands and the Basilica of the Holy Blood, which guards a vial with the blood of Christ.
- 10
Market Square (Grote Markt)
The square captures the most authentic local atmosphere, thanks to its market that is still as alive as it was in 958 and the guild houses that now house popular restaurants, bars, and stores.
- 11
Belfry Tower
Its 83 meters high make it the most impressive tower in Bruges. In the Middle Ages, it represented the power and wealth of the town, and the 47 bells that crown it continue to announce the time with wonderful melodies.
