About this experience
Crevasse Labyrinth - A Glacier Maze in Skaftafell
Explore a natural ice labyrinth and enter a world of wonder with our expert guides. This is an unforgettable glacier adventure for beginners, families, and photography enthusiasts alike.
Our expertly scouted Crevasse Track leads through a natural maze of towering ice walls - the frozen blue veins of Iceland's biggest glacier. This unique tour combines the magic of an ice cave with the accessibility of a glacier hike - year-round! We explore the Fallsjökull glacier field, an outlet of the mighty Vatnajökull glacier.
No technical experience is needed. This family-friendly adventure is easy, accessible, and will immerse you in Iceland’s glacial beauty, with spectacular photo opportunities at every turn.
Your journey starts at the Arctic Adventures Skaftafell Booking Hut , where you’ll meet your guide and fellow explorers. From here, we drive about 11 km to the Fallsjökull glacier tongue, gear up, and set off on a ~4 km adventure through the glacier labyrinth.

Know before you go
- Travelers should be prepared to walk approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) with an elevation gain of 200-250 meters (650–820 ft). While the tour is rated as easy and suitable for most fitness levels, there is a moderate amount of walking over uneven glacier terrain.

- Warm Outdoor Clothing Waterproof Jacket and Pants (available to rent)
- Gloves, Hat
- Layers: 3 or 4 upper layers such as a light t-shirt (preferably wool) next to the skin, then a fleecy or heavy wool garment, topped off with a waterproof wind-breaker
- Synthetic or quick dry pants - we recommend avoiding jeans
- Hiking Boots with ankle support (also available to rent). We advise against runners or any type of shoe that comes up below the ankle bone
- Food and Drinks
- Small Backpack
- Sun Protection - We recommend sunglasses and sunscreen even if it is cloudy due to the high UV and sunlight reflection off of the glacier.
